- Very popular.
Impressions
We chose the Senda Ruinaulta trail as a sort of warm-up for the upcoming hiking season because we expected an easy low altitude trail with great views. That is also mostly what we got, with some caveats.
First things first. The views of the Rhine, lake Cauma, and the alps really are lovely.
For us, the trail was much shorter than expected though. Now obviously I don’t mean in terms of kilometers, but time required. It’s basically a two hour walk through the forest with some great vista spots along the way.
Of course it’s also in a fairly populated and touristy area, so you can expect quite a bit of foot traffic, that is further boosted by restaurants and other spots reachable by car along the way.
I think we saw more Instagram girls in leggins and/or heels followed by a guy with a camera than any other demographic.
That doesn’t detract from the beauty of the scenery, but it does dampen the atmosphere a bit if you were going for a hike in nature.
All in all, it was a nice walk with nice views; just a bit short and crowded.
