Short Description

‘Tannenboden-Seebenalp-Weg’ is a relatively short and easy winter hiking route from Tannenbodenalp to Grossee and back (in St Gallen, Switzerland.)

Apart from the frozen lakes at the top, the main attractions are the views of Walensee below and the Churfirsten range on the other side.

Impressions

Like our previous two winter hikes, this tour starts and ends at a busy ski lift, and most of the route is a prepared piste. Unlike those two, that piste didn’t seem to be shared with skiers.

During the ascent, we enjoyed frequent views of Walensee and the Churfirsten peaks, as well as the landscape around us.

Walensee.

The lake at the top was quickly reached, and we included a circle around it to enjoy the scenery a bit more, and also a bit further away from the commotion around the restaurant that made no efforts to make sure their guests kept to the distancing rules, like most places.

View along the way.

Since the way down was the path we came up, it was of course a bit less interesting, but the views were still nice.

It was a quaint, long walk with lots of traffic, a bit steeper than other winter routes.
